Doug Champion’s Team is Changing the Way Rodeo Athletes Train

Doug Champion is changing the rodeo game and approaching training rodeo athletes like nobody has before. The proof is in the performance with fourteen of his athletes qualifying for the NFR in 2023.

“Watching fourteen athletes have the best year of their careers and being not their first year, they are getting better as they go. It’s kind of an anomaly.”

Champion’s team has adjusted to rodeo athlete’s life on the road and they specialize in virtual training with online video calls, demo videos for their warmups and exercises, and in-depth descriptions of their full workouts.

Every athlete and every event requires a different set of skills, which is something that Champion focuses on.

“Everybody is different. A bull rider and calf roper will have similar exercises because they are riding sports. We individualize and create these for each athlete which is really important because everyone has different strengths and different weaknesses.”

There has never been more focus on training amongst rodeo athletes as there is now, and Champion is helping his athletes stay on the cutting edge of their training.

Champion is working with some of the best rodeo athletes in the world to help them take their game to the next level.

“We have Clayton Biglow, the Wright Brothers, R.C. Landingham. These guys are all really consistent in their training throughout the year.”

Champion’s team works with everyone in and outside of the arena.

“We just want to make everybody really really good at what they do in everyday life.”
