Don Payne Splits the Win at the Gooding Pro Rodeo with a 3.6-Second Run

Don Payne is gunning for a National Finals Rodeo qualification as he sits No. 13 in the World Standings and just captured the win at the Gooding Pro Rodeo to pick up a check for $3,760.

“I just knew here you have to take a great start and do your job,” Payne said.

Payne split the win with No. 6 cowboy Dirk Tavenner who turned in a 3.6-second run in the first round of slack. Tavenner’s time held steady until the final performance as Payne clocked in an identical time to tie for the No. 1 spot.

Payne has secured multiple wins throughout the season and is making the remaining six weeks count as he works for his first Finals qualification with $75,280 in earnings.
