Dawson Hay Takes Opening Round in Fort Worth with an 89.5-Point Ride

Dawson Hay had the highest marked ride across any event in the opening performance of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo with an 89.5-point ride on Korkow Rodeo’s Joker Poker.

Hay has always been a boom-or-bust rider, which clearly runs in his family.

“It is something my dad always taught us to do. It feels better going down trying.”

Hay knew he had a good matchup when he saw the draw and took full advantage.

“An awesome horse to draw... takes a little scoot then starts bucking and after that is really showy and a lot of fun.”

Hay’s 89.5-point ride beat out Cort Scheer who placed second with an 88-point ride.

Hay will be performing again tonight as he has his sights set on advancing to the next round in Fort Worth.
