Dawson Hay’s Sunday consisted of sweeping the World Famous Miles City Bucking Horse Sale Matched Xtreme Bronc Ride after two phenomenal matchups.
Burch Rodeo’s Calico Color was Hay’s Long Round draw, and the two put up an 89-point score to beat Gus Gaillard by just one point.
“Pretty exotic. I’ve seen that horse quite a few times and everytime it’s something different so it’s kind of my style. You just go at her 100% and see what happens,” Hay said.
When the Short Round came, Hay nodded his head on J Bar J’s Gronk. Hay is the second cowboy in four years to cross the 90-point mark on Gronk and it resulted in the Miles City Bronze.
“I seen Zeke come out and get his last year and it was a goal of mine to, you know, at some point get one of my own. You know, there’s a lot of buckles kicking around but some of my favorite things in the house are the bronzes. They stick out and this one is truly special, it’s probably going to be my favorite one,” he said.
The success in Montana added over $17,000 to Hay’s 2025 season earnings and the five-time National Finals Rodeo saddle bronc rider now sits No. 2 in the PRCA World Standings.
