Dawson Hay Claims American Rodeo Saddle Bronc Riding Championship in Dramatic Fashion

Saddle bronc rider Dawson Hay edged Chase Brooks by a half-point to win The American Rodeo as both men rode for 90 or more in the Shootout.

Afterward, Hay talked about how he feels honored to carry on the legacy of his father, 20-time NFR qualifier Rod Hay, and that the win has not sunk in quite yet.

Hay and Brooks were the only two cowboys to make the whistle in the four-man Shootout as Ben Andersen and 2020 American Champion Wyatt Casper were bucked off. Hay won $100,000 and Brooks won $25,000.
