After a pair of 87.5-point rides for a second-place finish in Round 1 and third-place in Round 2, saddle bronc rider Damian Brennan made sure his Short Go ride topped them all. With a total of 263.5 points on three head, the Reno Rodeo title is all his.
“No, that’s a great little horse. He gives you every opportunity to go out there and do your job, and I’m just glad I went and done mine,” Brennan said.
The 88.5-point ride in the Short Go was thanks to a matchup with Diamond Fever of Corey and Lange Rodeo. The tiny but mighty bucking horse was exactly what Brennan hoped for.
“Like I said before, when it’s jumping that high in the air, it gives us plenty of time to set our feet, but if you stub a toe, they’re going to buck you off,” he said.
Brennan entered Reno Rodeo outside the Top 15 in the world by two places, and after the $18,700 payday, he is now your No. 10-ranked saddle bronc rider in the world.
