Dakota Felton was up in the calf roping slack on Monday morning and with the help of a good horse and a good calf, he was able to split the Round 1 win of the Dixie National in Jackson, Mississippi.
“It was awesome, I just had a great calf, my horse allowed me to win and we went from there and I was just happy to be able to do my job,” Felton said.
Felton is in his third year of his professional rodeo career, however, after just four or five rodeos into his rookie year, Felton had an accident and was unable to compete. He says that last year was what his rookie year should have been like. He learned a lot and with a lifetime mentor like his dad, Neil Felton, he is ready to see where professional rodeo takes him.
In all timed events except for barrel racing, it is a two head average in Jackson. Felton was up last night in Round 2 where he was a 9.5 to make him a 17.0 on two and putting him seventh in the average.
