Crooked River Roundup: Preview, Format, and What to Watch

The Crooked River Roundup gets underway June 22 and gives athletes a chance to compete for their share of nearly $200,000. Here is what you can expect as you watch the rodeo from Prineville, Oregon.

Format

The Crooked River Roundup is a simple format to understand. In roughstock events, the highest score on one head wins. In timed events, other than Barrel Racing, athletes compete in two rounds over the course of the three-day rodeo, and the fastest on two is crowned champion. In Barrel Racing, Cowgirls are given one opportunity to post the fastest time and be crowned champ.

What to Watch For

Performance 1 (June 22)

Stetson Wright is the biggest star of the opening performance and in Saddle Bronc Riding he will be competing against Kade Bruno, Riggin Smith, Mitch Pollock, and others.

In Bull Riding, Wright competes against World No. 1 and traveling partner, Ky Hamilton.

Performance 2 (June 23)

It will be an exciting day in Bareback Riding during Performance 2 as R.C. Landingham, Clayton Biglow, Dean Thompson, Jacek Frost, and Jacob Lees are all slated to compete.

Performance 3 (June 24)

Bareback Riding once again is full of big names in the final performance. Keenan Hayes, Cole Reiner, Richmond Champion, and Wyatt Denny are all competing.
