The Extreme Cowboys Association is hosting its World Finals in Glen Rose, Texas from Nov. 3-8.
Founder Craig Cameron joined Western Sports Roundup to discuss the event.
“I felt like things had gotten where everything was so precise,” Cameron said. “When I was a kid, those horses had to just about everything. So, I thought ‘what about an event where the horse has to do everything,’ so I came up with this challenge course.”
The course features bridges, jumps, water-crossing, cattle sorting and more. The courses also change at each event. Not only are the cowboys timed, they’re also judged by how well they clear each obstacle.
“It’s exciting, it’s fast moving and if you like horses and you like horsemanship and lots of action, you need to come to the Extreme Cowboy Association World Championships,” Cameron said.
More than 200 people are competing at the finals and tickets are free. The purse is more than $60,000.
