Cooper Cooke Looks Poised for Another Texas Swing Finals After 88.5-Point Ride in San Angelo

The No. 3 bareback rider in the World continues to ride well in the biggest rodeos

Cooper Cooke’s 88.5-point ride on Korkow Rodeo’s Buffalo Soldier is on top of the leaderboard in San Angelo after the first weekend of action.

Cooke, who is ranked in the Top 5 in the PRCA World Standings, rode his bronc with confidence.

“You gotta go out there and do your job and be 100 percent all in,” he said. "(His only trip), he just came out and blew up, so I knew if I did my job, it was going to be nice.”

Cooke’s lead after the first weekend puts him in position to advance to a fourth straight Texas Swing Short Round to close April. The only time he hasn’t earned a trip to the Finals so far was Fort Worth.

“It feels good for hard work to finally pay off, hopefully I can just keep it rolling through the summer,” he said.

Rounding out those currently in the Top 5 are Will Norstrom and Ethan Mazurenko with 86 each, Caleb Bennett with 84 and Cole Franks with 83.5. The Top 12 in the roughstock events will compete in the Finals on April 19.
