Cole Franks in Prime Position in Pool B After Round 2 Win at The Calgary Stampede

After taking second in Round 1 yesterday, Cole Franks stayed hot by winning Round 2 of Pool B at The Calgary Stampede with an 86-point ride on Xcepetional Margarita.

“You have to stay back under your riggin’ (on a horse like that) and let your feet come,” he said. “Horses like that you can’t really feel out or get a hold of, you just have to go.”

Franks already has been two NFR qualifications at age 22, but currently sits No. 30 in the PRCA Bareback riding World Standings.

“This atmosphere, this stage, it’s what you dream of getting on all year. I’ve been fighting some injuries and it’s good to come here and just kind of forget about them,” he said.

Franks is tied for first in Pool B with Tanner Aus, who won Round 1 and took second in Round 2. Both cowboys are likely to advance to Championship Sunday with one more round in their pool to go this afternoon.
