Clovis Rodeo: Performance 1

The first performance of Clovis Rodeo is set for this Thursday night. In it is some of bareback riding’s toughest rookies, saddle broncs’ top cowboys and a seven-time World Champion in the bull riding. Meanwhile, the timed event contestants have been rolling though three rounds of slack to complete the first two go-rounds.

BAREBACK RIDING

Your No.1 rookie in the World, Keenan Hayes, has matched up with National Finals bucking horse of Sankey Pro Rodeo, Bronc Riding Nation. Fellow rookie Luke Thrash recently covered the horse for 82.5 points in Nevada. Home state cowboy Mason Clements will meet up with another NFR horse, this one of C5 Rodeo, Sesame Street.

STEER WRESTLING

Bridger Anderson has been on a roll on the West Coast, he is currently 14. 1 on two head leaving him with a little bit of time to make up in Round 3. Your No. 1 steer wrestling rookie, Cash Robb won Round 1 with a 4.8 and he needs to do that again in Round 3 to move up in the average.

TEAM ROPING

Dustin Egusquiza and Levi Lord had success in Round 2 that earned them a third place finish after a no time in Round 1, they head into Round 3 looking for another quick time. Chad Masters and Trey Yates have yet to pull a go-round check but they are sitting seventh in the average.

SADDLE BRONC RIDING

The rookie trend continues into the saddle bronc with Stu Wright. His match up in Clovis is PT Barnum of Sankey Pro Rodeo and Phenom Genetics. He will have the inside scoop from as Spencer, Ryder, Rusty and CoBurn have all drawn this horse.

TIE-DOWN ROPING

Ty Harris bested his Round 1 time in Round 2 with an 8.8 that placed him second in the go-round. He sits fifth in the average and his third go is in the first performance. World Champion Shane Hanchey is leading the average after winning Round 1 and finishing second in Round 2. Can he do it again?

BREAKAWAY ROPING

Danielle Lowman leads the average with a 6.6 on two head. She picked up two go-round checks and has the lead by over half a second. Timber Allenbrand is the next fastest cowgirl. She split the Round 1 win with a 2.9-second run. The action continues in tonight’s performance.

BARREL RACING

Slack for barrel racing is taking place Thursday morning and those moving on to the progressive round are to be determined.

BULL RIDING

Two-time NFR bull rider Jordan Hansen’s draw for Performance 1 is none other than Hou’s Bad News of Bridwell Pro Rodeo. Hansen’s 2023 season has been short but he is coming off a big win in Logandale, Nevada that earned him $4,600. According to PRCA Stock Stats, this will be Hansen’s first time on Hou’s Bad News.
