Clay Tryan and Jake Long have combined for 28 Wrangler NFRs between them and trips 29 and 30 are likely in store for 2021.
The pair stopped the clock at 4.5 seconds on Saturday night to win the Short Round. It was their best run of the rodeo and one that would bring their Aggregate time to 15.3 seconds on three, No. 1 at the Horse Heaven Round-Up.
The Average triumph came with a check of $4,038 apiece and allowed both men to remain in the Top 10 in their respective PRCA World Standings. Tryan is the No. 7 header in the world while Long is No. 9 on the heel side.
“The two teams after us were really good and they had good steers and the guys right in front of us went fast, so it was either win fifth or sixth just catching or kind of be aggressive and try to win something better,” Tryan said.
“When it’s getting fast in front of you, you kind of have to be a little more aggressive and try to go ahead and win,” Long added.
