Each year the PRCA honors an individual with the Donita Barnes Contract Personnel Lifetime Achievement Award for his/her lifelong dedication and contributions to the sport of rodeo.
This year’s recipient is Cindy Rosser of the Flying U Rodeo company — whose father also won the award in 2015.
As the daughter of ProRodeo Hall of Fame stock contractor Cotton Rosser, Cindy has been involved in the rodeo business her whole life, helping operate the family’s Flying U Rodeo and Rosser Rodeo stock contracting companies in Marysville, California.
Steve Kenyon talks to Cindy about her rodeo roots, the role she plays in the family business, finding out that she is the 2020 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, and what this honor means to her and her family.
“I was so honored,” she says, “I am still trying to let it sink in.”
“I love this business, it is bred in me,” Cindy told ProRodeo.com. “I want it to be the best it can be, and I want to raise great livestock and put on good rodeos. I learned from my dad that you have to entertain the people. My dad’s signature song is “Thank you very much,” and when the crowd is walking out and they are singing my hope is they are saying they were entertained and they can’t wait to buy a ticket for next year.”
The Donita Barnes Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Cindy at the PRCA Awards Banquet on December 2 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
