Chance Thiessen sits at 20 seconds on two head at the Ponoka Stampede after tying the fastest time of Performance 1 with a 10.1 to kick off his first trip to Canada in the right way.
With a calf that usually went left, Thiessen’s game plan was getting a good position on his horse to set himself up to make the best go that he could and did just that. In this set up, he said you want a really fast horse, something that he is blessed to have.
“It’s a lot different, the lane is something that we only see at three or four rodeos throughout the year so it’s unique to come here and it pays really good money so we love it,” he said.
With five performances left to wait out before we know if Thiessen will be back for the Ponoka Stampede Short Round, he currently leads the average by two tenths of a second.
