Chance Theissen Flies to Redding, California to Lead the Tie-Down Roping

Chance Theissen has one of the greatest comeback stories and now, he is leading the Average at the Redding Rodeo in California. He stopped the clock at 8.5 in Round 1 before he came to Round 2 and was an 8.7 making him 17.2 on two head.

“It does feel good to come out here to California, we flew out here, to be leading it feels really good,” Theissen said.

One thing that timed event cowboys have to plan is the horse that they will ride when they fly out to rodeos. Theissen rode Brushton Minton’s horse, Theissen said he feels like that horse is the best one out there and that the horse proved it. Switching mounts, he says the feel is different but it is more mental.

“Last year was really trying for me, as a rookie. This year, I’ve just tried to prepare mentally more and just do my job and it’s been going good,” Theissen said.
