The Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo has been a staple of Casper since 1947 and this year, it paid out $320,000 with each winner taking home at least $6,000.
The rodeo got started with a win from a reining World Champion on a tear. Jess Pope was 173.5 points on two to win the bareback riding. It was Pope’s third win of July and he has gone from No. 18 to No. 13 in the World Standings over the last 10 days.
Denell Henderson won the steer wrestling with a two-head time of 8.2 seconds while Jake Smith/Douglas Rich were 9.8 second on two to win the team roping.
In saddle bronc riding, it was second-year cowboy Damian Brennan winning the rodeo with 172.5 points on two and in tie-down roping, Lane Livingston got the job done by two tenths with an aggregate time of 17.8 seconds. Paige Jones won the barrel racing by almost half of a second, it was her second PRCA Playoff Series win in Wyoming this month. Brennan, Livngston and Jones all won the Finals in addition to the Average.
Last but certainly not least was bull rider Trevor Reiste. He was 89.5 points in the Long Round and 87.5 in the Short Round to win by three points with an impressive total of 177 points.
