Caroline Lukens Joins Western Sports Roundup to Talk All Things National Western Stock Show and Rodeo

As we near the time for the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo to kick off, the timed events qualifiers are underway.

Caroline Lukens, National Western Rodeo Operations Coordinator, said that there over 120 barrel racers, 80 team roping teams and 116 tie-down ropers and steer wrestlers. They take 40 in each event battled their way into the rodeo through the qualifiers that will go up against the 40 that were pre-seeded due to standings.

It is an equal opportunity format at the Denver Coliseum and two of their 2023 Champions went on to win the World, both Riley Webb and Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi. Denver kicked started their record breaking year.

“We’re just pretty proud to have the high caliber contestants that we do, come into town and go on to become World Champions after they’ve competed here in Denver,” Lukens said.
