Canadian Bareback Rider Orin Larsen Earns Long Awaited Ponoka Stampede Title

Orin Larsen has captured many wins in his career and this past weekend, the Canadian bareback rider added to the list with a Ponoka Stampede title.

With a 90.75-point ride aboard Calgary Stampede’s Yippee Kibitz, Larsen won the Showdown Round.

“I’ve been waiting to stand here with this buckle in this arena for a very long time. This has been my favorite rodeo, we come year after year here, holy cow this is awesome,” Larsen said.

If you ask Larsen, there was no better place to draw his old pal Yippee Kibitz, the animal athlete who is also having an exceptional year and helped him to a round win at the 2020 NFR.

Larsen entered Ponoka sitting No. 20 in the PRCA World Standings and with with this win, should move into the Top 15 in the world.

Kade Sonnier took second, Kody Lamb was third and Ty Breuer rounded out the Showdown in fourth.
