By the numbers: Sage Kimzey overtakes the No. 1 spot in the PRCA World Bull Riding Standings

Sage Kimzey has overtaken Colten Fritzlan in the PRCA World Bull Riding Standings because he has rode 11 bulls total since April 1, including 8 of his last 8. In that timeframe, Kimzey has won more than $15,000.

This season is shaping up to be one of the best Kimzey’s storied career. If his average score of 85.5 points holds, it would be the highest of the six-time World Champion’s career. His previous best came in 2019 when his average was 84.72.

Kimzey has already been marked 85 or more points 17 times this season which is more than he had all of 2020.

The World Title race is shaping up to be a good one in the bull riding this year as Kimzey, Fritzlan and Stetson Wright are all riding more than 64 percent of their bulls and are all averaging more than 85 points.

The standings are as follows as of May 11:

1. Kimzey, $69,731
2. Fritzlan, $63,743
3. Wright, $55,361
