Reid Oftedahl is a National Finals Rodeo rookie as he enters the Thomas and Mack as the No. 15 ranked bull rider.

With four years under his belt in professional rodeo, Oftedahl’s 2022 season was filled with all time highs as he took on the Calgary Stampede for the first time and fought the bubble to end up with a NFR qualification.

BIGGEST PAYDAYS

Calgary Stampede, $14,333

At his first Calgary Stampede, Oftedahl showed up to win. With a win in the Second Round and a second-place finish in the Fourth Round of Pool A, he moved on to the Semifinals. It would be a $3,000, 75.5-point ride that would round out Oftedahl’s Calgary experience.

Pendleton Xtreme Bulls Finale, $17,001

Oftedahl entered the Xtreme Bulls Finale a bull rider to watch. He was battling the bubble when he won Round 1 with an 87.5-point ride on Four Star Rodeo’s Brandon. He tied for third in Round 2 and ended up second in the average to pick up money that would help cinch his NFR.

HIGHEST MARKED RIDES

Dodge City Roundup, 90 Points

It would be Frontier Rodeo’s County Jail that Oftedahl would get his highest score of the regular season on. The two matched up in the Final Round of the Dodge City Roundup in Kansas to go straight to the top of the leaderboard and add $2,500 to Oftedahl’s earnings.

California Rodeo Salinas “Big Week Bull Riding,” 89.5 Points

Before California Rodeo Salinas kicked off, they had their Big Week Bull Riding where Oftedahl would go 89.5 points in the Final Round on Four Star Rodeo’s Bit of Bad News. It would be a ride worth over $4,000.

NOTABLE WINS

Coleman PRCA Rodeo, 89.5 Points

Tying as his second high score of the year, Oftedahl went 89.5 points in Coleman, Texas. On a Harper & Morgan bull that has yet to be named, he cinched almost $3,000.

Crystal Springs Rodeo Xtreme Bulls, 88 Points

The Xtreme Bulls tour proved to be good to Oftedahl. In Clear Lake, South Dakota, he would match up with Dakota Rodeo’s Mr. Winston to be 88 points to win the Final Round and go to No. 1 in the average.
