Jeff Askey won the Texas Circuit Finals thanks to two qualified rides and 164 points on two head.
He got things started in Round 1 with 77 points aboard Slinging Blade of Lancaster & Jones. There were more qualified rides in Round 1 of the rodeo than Rounds 2 and 3 combined.
“That bull usually bucks real hard, goes to and turns back to the right, a lot of guys are 85, 86 on him, he kind of had a weaker day and I was 77 on him. Didn’t get a check in that round, but it helped out in the Average in the long run,” Askey said.
In Round 2, Askey had the second-best ride of the entire Circuit Finals when he was marked 87 points on Rafter G’s Dragon’s Breath to win the round.
“It’s definitely great to win the Texas Circuit Finals,” he said. “It’s pretty tough, there’s a lot of guys that get to the NFR that rodeo in the Texas Circuit.”
