Brody Cress matched up with Miss Ellie of Frontier Rodeo, a horse he had never covered, for the Short Round of the Dodge City Roundup. Eight seconds later, the Wyoming cowboy put an 88-point ride on the board to win it all with 175.5 points on two.
“Definitely was able to take a little bit of a deep breathe there, I mean, that’s a fight the entire time because she gets into that lead where it wants you out in that right stirrup and being a right rein guys, that doesn’t give you anything to help keep yourself square so I knew it was going to be a fight the whole time but I’m glad I got to pay her back once,” Cress said.
Shea Fournier (173.5 points), Ryder Wright (172.5 points) and Lefty Holman (169.5 points) rounded out the Top 4.
It was Cress’ first win in Dodge City and it paid him a total of , which was much needed for him as his No. 10 ranking in the PRCA World Standings is lower than he’d like.
