Briar Teague won the Jr. Ironman at the Cinch Timed Event Championship at the Lazy E Arena from March 11-13.
“I just tried to knock down every steer, get a time on everything. Just make sure I get ‘em all caught,” he said.
The 19-year-old Okie won the first two rounds of the three round event.
In the first round, he was an aggregate of 43.8 seconds on one heading, heeling, tie-down and steer wrestling run. He followed that up with a total time of 39.6 in Round Two, which gave him a lead of about 70 seconds heading into the final round.
Teague finished with an aggregate time of 200.4 seconds, defeating second-place Colton Greene by a little more than 20 seconds. Teague took a no time, which was a penalty of 60 seconds, in his steer wrestling run of the rodeo, but he still prevailed.
“I thought a 60 (second run) was going to give me second place,” he said. “I didn’t know I had it won.......A lot of relief to know I still had it won.”
Teague earned $10,000 for his victory. You can see the full results here.
