Macy Young is sitting 14th in the World on the verge of making her third National Finals Breakaway Roping.
Her success in Pendleton put her one step closer to that goal. Aboard a horse that she trained and knew inside and out, but that is now owned by Millie Greenwood, Young clocked a 2.7 in the Long Round to move on to Short Go Sunday.
Young’s horsepower that has carried her through the 2025 season has been Boomer and Timon.
“My main go-to anytime that I can ride him is Boomer if he’s there. We raised him. I was the first person on him and I just know him like a book. And I just don’t quite know the sorrel horse like that yet, but we’re getting there,” Young said.
It’s crunch time in the final two weeks of the season and Young has $97,000 to her name and is safe by just one spot with big money left to be won. Young has the potential to qualify for Sioux Falls through Mandan that could change it all.
“I look at it a little bit but I don’t sit there and stare at it and say ‘oh if I can win this or that’ no, it’s just going to happen. I mean, we’re either going to win a check or we’re not. And, either way the way that this plays out, it’s going to be totally fine. It’s still been a great year and I still have my family,” she said.
Young’s season is far from over.
