Blane Cox Makes a Smart Run to be Red Bluff Round-Up Tie-Down Roping Champion

Blane Cox stayed at the front of the pack in Red Bluff, California with each run getting faster until the Final Round when he drew a strong calf.

“That calf was a good calf, she did run a little harder. Shad had her in one of the previous rounds and ran her down here a little ways but I knew she was great on the ground. I missed the barrier a little bit to be safe and just went and made the run I could make,” he said.

Cox would win the Red Bluff Round-Up with a time of 39.9 seconds on four head, his fastest run being an 8.5 to get him the Round 3 win before he capped it with a 12.2 in the Short Go.

“Earlier in the week I drew some really good calves and made some better runs, come in with a pretty good lead. I like the four head format, it seems to fit my style and gives a guy a good chance if he does draw one strong one or so he can come back on a better calf and make good runs,” he said.

Cox now sits No. 11 in the PRCA Tie-Down World Standings with a swing of momentum as he heads to the next rodeo.
