Beau Peterson Find Major Success at the Gold Buckle Futurities

No. 8 ranked WPRA Breakaway Roper has a knack with young rodeo horses and that talent showed in Ardmore, OK.

Number eight ranked Women’s Professional Rodeo Association Breakaway Roper Beau Peterson saw much success at the Gold Buckle Futurities in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

The Kansas cowgirl and her horse Hez Talkin Smack, claimed the title of 4 & Under Breakaway Champions, further cementing Peterson’s reputation as a standout competitor and talented horsewoman.

Peterson has seen consistent success at futurities over the years and thus has developed a strong passion for working with younger horses. At the Gold Buckle Futurity in Ardmore, she wasn’t just showcasing her own horses but also riding for clients.

“I’ve had the opportunity to ride some really good horses, and that makes my job easy,” Peterson explained. “I just love what I get to do, and being on a good horse makes it a lot of fun for me. It’s a little nerve wracking hopping on someone else’s horse and trying to show them to the best of their abilities. I just tell myself to stay behind the barrier, catch the calf, and give the horse the best chance to win something– basically, just try not to mess up.”

Much of Peterson’s success stems from the time she spends at home, putting in the work to prepare her horses for the big stage. She believes that building confident and comfortable horses is the key to producing champions in the arena.
