Katelyn Scott is a home state cowgirl at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and she has returned to Frost Bank Center for the first time since 2019. Aboard a horse she calls Babycakes and after three tough go-rounds, Scott is Semi-Finals bound.

“It’s been just amazing. It’s taken a lot of prayer and waiting and preparation to get back. And just to have the runs that I did, all three rounds, she worked amazing each round and I couldn’t be more proud of her,” Scott said.

The duo clocked one sub 14-second run to win Round 2 and their other two times were as consistent as they needed to be for Scott to rack up more money than any other barrel racer in her bracket.

“I drew really good on the ground and I’m glad I took advantage of it. But the ground seems great in my bracket and I’m thankful. The last time I was there, they did not drag halfway through and it makes a big difference so I thank the committee and people that make that happen,” she said.

Her preparation for the smaller set up that is San Antonio included a few trips to the Stockyards Pro Rodeo in Fort Worth and looking back, Scott says that helped Babycakes be ready as the mare loves a big outdoor pen.

Scott’s 2025 season is full of success so far even outside of the Texas Swing, she picked up a Turquoise Circuit Finals win to cinch her place at the NFR Open come this summer. She is already inside the Top 10 in the WPRA World Standings and as she looks forward to the rest of the season, Scott says she will follow where the Lord leads.
