After a fourth-place finish at the 2024 NFR Open, barrel racer Emily Beisel and the palomino mare called Chewy are back with their eye on the win.
“I tell you what, that’s the best feeling in the world when you’re riding a horse like Chewy. I can send her as hard as I want from the back forty, and she loves it. That’s her favorite kind of setup. So, when I saw it set up like that, I was like this is going to be a blast,” Beisel said.
The 17.17-second run won the round by four hundredths of a second with Katelyn Scott as the next fastest cowgirl.
“Once I dropped the hammer, man, she was flying. She’s a fierce competitor. I’ve never had a horse that makes me as confident as Chewy does,” she said.
