Barrel Racer Emily Beisel Leads Long Round at Rodeo Austin

Through five performances at Rodeo Austin, Emily Beisel leads in the barrel racing after stopping the clock at 15.59 seconds on Tuesday night.

“I know he (horse Chongo) likes the arena, so I was just trying to just have a good, smooth run, he was a little tight, but we left the barrels up,” Beisel said.

When Rodeo Austin was last held in 2019, Beisel, who was then known as Emily Miller, was the champion.

“Sometimes that’s a little extra pressure,” she said.

In Austin, each athlete gets just one attempt to qualify for the Semifinals. Action continues through the Championship Round on March 26 and you can watch every performance on The Cowboy Channel or The Cowboy Channel+.
