Sherry Cervi’s amazing mare Stingray produced another famous barrel horse, Stinger, who aided Ryann Pedonne in making her first Wrangler NFR in 2020.
Now, there will be a third generation as Stinger’s new owner, 70 Ranch Performance Horses, have decided to retire Stinger from rodeo to focus on breeding.
Cervi had been riding Stinger in 2021 to try to qualify for her first Wrangler NFR since 2017 and she praised 70 Ranch for making the hard call to no longer have Stinger compete.
“I used to think I would never ride a more famous horse than Stingray... But by the 2nd rodeo, I realized Stinger is,” Cervi wrote on Facebook. “When you are hauling one of the most high profile studs, people pay attention. I had so many people that I didn’t even know were barrel racing fans come up to me and want to talk about Stinger. It was so cool.”
