Bareback Riders Tanner Aus and Shane O’Connell Split a Round Win in Calgary

Tanner Aus and Shane O’Connell made Day 6 of the Calgary Stampede count as they split the round win. Aus drew Buck Wheat while O’Connell matched up with Dancing Queen and both cowboys earned a score of 84.5 points. This won them each $5,000 to be sitting in the top 4 in Pool B.

“It’s an honor to get on good horses up here in Calgary. It’s an even better honor to have good traveling partners, I broke down on the way up here so thank God Tanman picked me up on the way and we got to come down here and share a round. I couldn’t be happier,” O’Connell said.

Aus is a previous Calgary Stampede Champion and looking to do it again. He kept it simple with Buck Wheat and relied on the basics.

“It’s all about just getting back to the things I learned when I was a kid and they always carry you through it. I was happy that 84.5 was enough for the round today, it was a lot of fun,” Aus said.

Making it back to the Short Go at the Calgary Stampede is based on money earned so each round gives the cowboys a chance. Aus and O’Connell currently sit in the Top 4 with two more rounds to go. Action from The Calgary Stampede continues daily on The Cowboy Channel and PRCA on Cowboy Channel+ through July 17.
