Back When They Bucked had more events than ever before and plenty of rain on Monday afternoon, making for a wet and wild Western event in Deadwood, South Dakota.

Back When They Bucked featured four total events: bareback riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding and breakaway roping. The two timed events were one on an Average while the two roughstock events featured a clean slate Short Go.

In the bareback riding, Tanner Aus and Donny Proffit split the top spot with 88.5 points apiece in a muddy Final Round. Each cowboy took home about $2,000 and Profit added another check of almost $2,000 by finishing second in the Long Round, which was won by Wyatt Denny.

Dirk Tavnner was consistent in the steer wrestling with two times of 4.5 seconds to win the Average by three-tenths of a second over Short Round winner Ty Erickson.

Saddle bronc riding was dominated by world No. 1 Sage Newman. The Montana native was 90.5 in the Long Round and 90 in the Short Round to win both and leave no doubt in Deadwood.

In the breakaway roping, Cadee Williams won the Long Round with a time of 2.5 seconds and then was 3.6 in the Short Round, which was good enough to win by almost a full second.
