Arcadia All-Florida Championship: Recap, Highlights and Payouts

BY BRETT NIERENGARTEN @PRORODEOBRETT

The Arcadia All-Florida Championship paid out almost $150,000 and was the seventh NFR Playoff Rodeo to conclude in the 2023 season.

The highest-paying rodeo in the Sunshine State had an NFR steer wrestler win with his fastest time of 2023, one of the top saddle bronc riders of 2022 continuing to be a mainstay near the top of the World Standings, and a tie-down roper notch his second win in Florida in about three weeks.

Starting in the steer wrestling where Tristan Martin picked up a much needed victory. The Louisiana native found the winner’s circle for the first time in 2023 with a 3.6-second run. Prior to Arcadia, the two-time NFR qualifier had yet to make a run faster than 5.7 seconds this season.

In saddle bronc riding, Sage Newman was victorious for the second time this season. After breaking the PRCA Regular Season earnings record in the bronc riding a year ago, Newman is up to No. 3 in the world in 2023 after riding Frontier’s High River for 86.5 points to beat out fellow 2022 Top 5 finisher Logan Hay by one point.

Michael Otero added another win in Florida in Arcadia by stopping the clock at 8.5 seconds. The No. 4 tie-down roper in the world also won the 150th Silver Spurs Rodeo in Kissimmee with a 7.5 on Feb. 19.
