Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins Take Impressive Lead in Austin
Performance 2 of Rodeo Austin is when Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins took a dominating lead in the team roping by almost six seconds. With a time of 4.8 seconds, they now lead the rodeo with nine performances left.
“We know who’s behind us. There’s a lot of rodeo left to go and this is always a fast rodeo so we’re just trying to make the best run we can and hope we make it back,” said Ward.
After making a trade for this performance with Jake Orman and Brye Crites, Hawkins said they are hoping that their 4.8 is good enough to be in the Top 24 of Rodeo Austin when all is said and done.
“… Because we know how those guys rope so yeah, just grateful for the opportunity to be over here at a rodeo like this and catch one,” said Hawkins.
Although they have a huge lead, Ward and Hawkins are prepared to wait out the next nine performances.
