An Interview with Glen Alan Phillips, new GM of the NFR

The National Finals Rodeo Committee recently appointed Glen Alan Phillips as the general manager of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo — meaning Phillips will work closely with Las Vegas Events, NFRC, and PRCA on all aspects of rodeo production.

A seasoned professional with more than 20 years as an executive, Phillips has spent his career based in the livestock show, equine, rodeo and fair industry. He began his career with the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and transitioned to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, where he spent 19 years. He currently serves as the president and CEO of the American Royal Association in Kansas City, Mo.

On ProRodeo Tonight, Phillips joined Amy Wilson via Skype to talk about why he applied for the job, his new responsibilities and his game plan for tackling them, the current state of rodeo, and what he foresees for the NFR moving forward.

“The PRCA is excited that Glen Alan has been selected as the new NFR General Manager,” PRCA CEO George Taylor said. “His experience is exactly what the NFR needs and will be good for our fans. We are looking forward to working with Glen Alan as he leads one of our nation’s premier sporting events into the future.”
