After more than two years, the California Rodeo has returned to Salinas and it was a welcome sight for everyone in the city.
According to Mayor Kimbley Craig, the entire community comes out for the rodeo every year. Police officers wear wranglers and cowboy hats all week, businesses let employees off early to volunteer and local high school sports teams and clubs help run the concessions.
“It’s an amazing event for our city,” Craig said. “We’re thrilled to host (the ProRodeo Tour Finale).”
Craig and Amy Wilson Cameron also discussed the city’s rich agricultural history and what it is like to be the second female mayor of Salinas.
