Amanda Welsh’s Horse, Firefly, Out for Rest of 2022

Barrel racer Amanda Welsh will be without her main mount Firefly for the rest of the year due to a stifle injury.

Firefly was raised and trained by the Welsh family and Amanda expects him to be healthy again after some rehabilitation. In the mean time, she will ride a mare named Scarelette.

“My heart hurts and to think of going to rodeos without him is not something I really ever could see,” Welsh wrote on Facebook. “But with Dr. Carden & Dr. Hays they have a plan to get him back. I know God’s word doesn’t return to him void so I know Firefly will heal well.”

Welsh made her first NFR appearance in 2021 and won Round 1. She has also been to the Ram National Circuit Finals three consecutive years.
