After a year of recovery, Amanda Welsh and her main mount Fire Fly had an emotional return to Rodeo Austin where the National Finals duo captured the win with a 14.88-second run.
“He loved it. I knew in the back, he was ready to go, and like I always do when he takes off, I’ve got to with him and man, it’s such a rush running him to his first barrel,” Welsh said.
Welsh and Fire Fly were the first out during the Final Round in Austin and Welsh compared the crowd to that of the Thomas and Mack. It was the kind of crowd that horses thrive off of when they hear the cheers and Fire Fly did just that.
