A tie in the team roping landed Curry Kirchner and Billie Jack Saebens on top of the leaderboard alongside Pedro Egurrola and JC Flake. Both teams had a time of 18.6 seconds on three head at the Dodge City Roundup to split the championship.
“Man, I knew we’d get a pretty good check but I didn’t think we’d win it. We were far enough down there where we kind of had to put some pressure on and just make a good run, see where it held,” Kirchner said.
The two teams went back-to-back in the Short Go with Kirchner/Saebens stopping the clock at 5.8 seconds and Egurrola/Flake following with a 6.4 to finish second and third respectively.
The other three pairs in the Top 5 were in the Average were Garrett Tonozzi/Jace Davis (19.1 seconds), Tyler Wade/Wesley Thorp (19.8 seconds) and Dustin Egusquiza/Levi Lord (21.6 seconds).
Egurrola/Flake and Kirchner/Saebens all took home $5,094 for the victory.
