A Message from the Calgary Stampede

The cancellation of the Calgary Stampede this year was a huge disappoint for rodeo fans, athletes, and the city of Calgary.

Since 1912, Calgary Stampede has been a staple of summers in Southern Alberta that brings more than a million visitors and millions of dollars to Calgary each year.

In a video released last week, the Calgary Stampede looks back at its rich rodeo history and offers a message of hope for the upcoming year.

“Every rider can be sure of one thing, eventually you’ll het bucked off. For over 108 years, we’ve been on a great ride, but this year, well, this year we’ve been thrown...,” the Calgary Stampede says, “but that doesn’t mean we won’t see your community spirit across our city. This year, we will see it in the healthcare workers, the doctors, the nurses, with the truckers, the farmers, and the frontline workers. We’ll see it in everyone pitching in to help get through this, and we’ll see courage to match that of any bull rider.

“So here we are, for the first time we find ourselves in the dirt, a little mixed up, a little messed up, a little muddied. But you can be sure of one thing: we’ll shake it off and get back in that saddle.”
