At the Riggin’ Rally in Weatherford in 2021, Tim O’Connell tied the World Record bareback ride of 94 points for the second time in his career. Today, we look back at all of the 94 point nareback rides.
In 2002, Wes Stevenson was the first cowboy to post a 94 point ride at the 2002 Texas Stampede. Stevenson was on Cover Girl and he posted the score in his home state.
In 2003, the record would be tied by Will Lowe on Sky Reach. Lowe went 94 points in Omaha, Nebraska.
Those two would hold the record together until 2009 when Ryan Gray went 94 points on Grass Dancer in Eagle, Colorado. Gray became the third ever cowboy to post a 94 point ride.
In 2010, Tilden Hooper went 94 in Silver City, New Mexico on Big Tex to become the fourth to share the record.
In 2020, Tim O’Connell went 94 on Stevie Knicks in San Angelo and just under a year later he would go 94 again at the Riggin Rally, this time on Gun Fire.
After 20 years of ties, the World Record finally came down on June 5, 2022. Rocker Steiner won the Riggin’ Rally in Darby with 95 points on C5 Rodeo’s Virgil.
