A Historic Night for Lefty Holman In Spanish Fork

Not only did Lefty Holman go 90.5 points last night to take the lead in Spanish Fork, he set a new arena record at the Fiesta Days Rodeo — and he did on the legendary Virgil, becoming the first saddle bronc rider to ride him this season.

The World Champion Bareback Horse of C5 Rodeo — who has helped bareback riders win NFR rounds and RFD-TV’s The American, and is known for being good for 90+ points if you can stay on him — transitioned from bareback to saddle bronc this season. And he hasn’t been ridden since.

Averaging 48 points, he’s gotten the best of Colt Gordon at the Cody Stampede and Rusty Wright at the Fallon County XTreme Broncs. So when he drew Virgil in Spanish Fork, Lefty made sure he was ready for him.

“I’ve been studying for a week since I’ve been up in Calgary on videos of that horse,” Lefty said. “So I did a lot of homework, and I knew what I was getting into to.”
