A bareback horse named Big Star was the star of the night on Friday at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, taking Kash Wilson to an 87-point score, $1,760 in prize money, and the round-one win in Bracket champions 5 of the ProRodeo tournament.

The first round put Wilson in a strong spot, as the top two money earners in each event after two rounds automatically qualify for the semi-finals while third place moves on to the wild card round. After Saturday afternoon’s performance, Wilson finished in second behind Clint Laye and will advance.

“It’s exciting,” Wilson said. “I’ve competed here before and never had this kind of success. This is good for my confidence. Just getting to ride here is an accomplishment but getting a first-place check is really awesome. Hopefully it keeps going through the rest of the rodeo and the year.”
