30th Annual Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering Ranch Rodeo Recap

The 30th Annual Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering took place in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards this past weekend. During the Cowboy Gathering there are many events that take place including a Wagon Train, Chuck Wagon Competition, Western Swing Festival, youth events and more. One of the fan favorite events during the Cowboy Gathering is the Ranch Rodeo.

This year there were 14 teams competing: Bluestem Cattle Co., Bonds Ranch, E.C. Cattle Company, Green Land & Cattle Co., Nail Ranch, Saunders Ranch, 666s Ranch, Gee Ranch, Waggoner Saunder/Nine Bar Ranch, K.W. Cattle Company, Young Ranch, Smith Oasis Creek Ranch and Circle Bar Ranch.

The overall champion was Green Land & Cattle Co with 207 points. They took home two event average titles both with 39 points, they won the Maverick Branding and the Wild Cow Milking. They won the Top Horse award as well. Chase Thompson’s horse performed well throughout the entire weekend.

The second overall team of the Cowboy Gathering was E.C. Cattle Company with a total score of 186.5 points. They were one of only two teams that made it back in all six events of the Ranch Rodeo. E.C. Cattle Company also took home the award for Top Hand, their very own Waylon Davis earned the title.

GEE RANCH IN THE FINAL ROUND OF THE SADDLE BRONC RIDING

Coming in third with 173 points was the Gee Ranch. They won the most event average titles of the weekend, taking home three average titles in the Sorting, Branding, and the Saddle Bronc. They were one of eight ranches that came back to the final round in the saddle bronc.
