2024 World Champion Returns: Josh Frost Comes Back Swinging

Fresh off shoulder surgery, the reigning 2024 PRCA Bull Riding World Champion picks up two checks on his first weekend back.

The reigning 2024 World Champion Bull Rider, Josh Frost, is back—and picking up right where he left off. After undergoing shoulder surgery following his World Title win at the National Finals Rodeo, Frost returned this past weekend with strong showings at both the Silver State Stampede and the Strawberry Days Rodeo.

Despite riding through injury at the 2024 NFR—where he placed in 7 out of 10 rounds—Frost remained focused. With five NFR qualifications, two NFR average titles, and over $2 million in career earnings, he’s no stranger to the winner’s circle. Still, he admitted there were nerves during his first rodeo back.

“I don’t know if I’ve been that nervous to get on a bull in a long time,” he said, noting the nerves stemmed from pure excitement about being back in the arena.

Frost went 2-for-3 on his return weekend, starting with a smooth 84-point ride at the Silver State Stampede. He followed that with an 87-point ride at the Strawberry Days Rodeo, securing second place aboard Legacy Pro Rodeo’s bull Trasher.

After winning the World Title, Frost said he recognized holes in his technique that he wanted to improve to boost his riding percentage—something he focused on during his recovery. Now, heading into the summer run, Frost says he’s carrying “a pile of confidence” and keeping his goals simple.

“Be the best bull rider I can be, ride every bull I get on, and be excited about the challenge from each draw.”
