For the past two years, the National Finals Rodeo has been without a fan-favorite veteran steer wrestler. This year, Tyler Pearson makes his return to the Thomas and Mack, entering as the No. 12 man in the World.

National Western Stock Show and Rodeo, $7,997

Pearson got faster on every run in Denver, which is especially impressive considering he started with a 4.8 in Round 1. He added a 4.4 in Round 2 and then bumped it up to a 3.7 in the Semifinals before flying to a 3.3 in the Finals to win it all by half a second.

San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, $13,500

The second leg of the Texas Swing was good to Pearson. Consistency was key in Bracket 1 and his three low 5-second runs made him the No. 2 man moving on. A 4.3 in the Semifinals advanced him to the Finals where a 4.2 landed him third overall.

Reno Rodeo, $5,531

Pearson made the Finals in Reno, but the only run he won money on was his second place finish, which came from a 4.2-second run. It was his first check in Reno since 2021, when he finished second in the Average.

Farm-City Pro Rodeo, $5,355

The next big pay day for Pearson came in August. He put together a 3.9-second run to split a fourth-place finish in Round 1. He would be out of the money in Round 2, but he was fast enough to place third in the Average. It was his first time competing in Hermiston since 2019.

Cassia County Fair and Rodeo, $3,356

A trip to Idaho proved rewarding for Pearson, who secured a win with a blazing 3.6-second performance, narrowly outpacing Will Lummus and Clayton Hass by two-tenths.

Dillon Jaycees PRCA Rodeo – Montana’s Biggest Weekend, $1,881

Montana would be the place of Pearson’s next win and it too, came from a time of 3.6 seconds. This one was three tenths faster than the next bulldoffer and added to Pearson’s momentum going into the final month of the regular season. He also took second at the Evanston Cowboy Days for a 3.9-second run that same weekend.

Springhill PRCA Rodeo, $1,903

Pearson’s final win of the 2024 regular season was in Louisiana. He threw down a 3.4-second run to leave no doubt that the win was his when the next fastest time was 3.8 seconds. In the last three weeks of the season, Pearson won five checks of $1,000 or more in five different states.
