Tyler Pearson, the 2017 World Champion Steer Wrestler and six-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier, officially announced his retirement from professional rodeo this week. With over $1.2 million in career earnings, Pearson leaves behind a remarkable and respected career.
His standout year came in 2017 when he left the National Finals Rodeo as a World Champion. That year in Las Vegas, Pearson placed in five of the ten go-rounds and earned $155,538 at the NFR alone—bringing his season total to more than $265,000.
Even in his final season this year, Pearson proved he was still a force in the arena. At RODEOHOUSTON—one of the biggest stages in professional rodeo—he advanced to the finals, finished 8th overall, and took home over $7,800.
Now, Pearson says he is ready to focus on family.
“My little boy is getting big into rodeo... and I just don’t want to miss that,” he said. “I’ve had a good career, and I’ve had a blast.”
Pearson now plans to spend more time at home in Atoka, Oklahoma, and help his kids pursue their own rodeo dreams. After years on the road, he’s ready for the next chapter—one that keeps him close to home and still connected to the sport he loves.
