Broadcast Engineer

JOB TITLE: Broadcast Engineer
REPORTS TO: Chief Technology Officer

Job Description:
This individual will be responsible for installing and maintaining video, audio, and other equipment associated with television broadcasting. This includes server-based record and play-out systems, non-linear editors, production switchers, routing switchers, IP encoders, decoders, newsroom computer systems, data networks, and broadcast transmission equipment.  You will be directly responsible for hands-on support of modern production equipment. In addition, you will also be responsible for maintaining computer network equipment.  You must be efficient at troubleshooting problems and responding quickly under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support in the management of Servers, Network Security and Network Services
  • PC/Mac hardware/software support of on-site installing, servicing and repairing workstations
  • Provide support for the technical needs of the production department
  • Assist with video equipment set-up and maintenance
  • Assist with LAN and WAN related hardware and software maintenance
  • Perform physical inventory of equipment
  • Maintain digital telephone system
  • Perform maintenance on ENG equipment
  • Maintain and repair broadcast equipment including: satellite receivers, cameras, switchers, graphic systems, audio equipment, routers, automation/editing systems, intercoms, monitors.  Familiarity with Ross Video and Telemetrics preferred
  • Provide technical support to operational users
  • Consult and communicate with engineers and management on technical issues as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher in IT, electronics, or computer related field - OR - 2-4 years of related broadcast experience, previous ENG/SNG experience is a plus
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft, Mac, and Linux operating systems
  • Knowledge and competency in core hardware and computer system technologies, including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and LAN/WAN networking
  • Knowledge of ENG equipment
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting problems and responding quickly under pressure
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud related software is a plus
  •  Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
