Barrel racer Mary Brooks is now sitting third at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo after she clocked a 16.22 on her eight-year-old horse, Bandit, during Performance No. 2 in Missouri.
The committee in Sikeston goes above and beyond to keep the ground good for the barrel racers and it was proven last night when Mary came out after the drag.
“It means a lot to us, JT Morton heads up the ground crew here and he’s done a fabulous job for us,” Brooks said.
The palomino that carried Brooks to that No. 3 position is a horse that Brooks ran in both juveniles and futurities and she has found that he truly has a love for the rodeo setup.
“He’s really got a love for rodeo. He enjoys it, he loves the crowd and they’re definitely loud tonight,” she said.
With two performances left, Brooks is sitting in a great spot at No. 3.
